Thread rollers are the preferred machines throughout the industry for producing strong, smooth, precise, and uniform external thread forms. Thread rolling differs from other types of threading process machines like chasers, cutters and CNC thread grinders. A cold forging process is used that can be performed on any pliable metal. This same forging process can be used to make other forms, such as knurls. To get the best quality threads, the process is performed on precision centerless ground blanks.
Thread roller machines are capable of two types of thread rolling, infeed and thrufeed. Making for a more versatile machine that’s capable of producing, bolts and studs as well as longer-length threaded pieces.
This style utilizes a set cycle for increased production. Used for the general rolling of parts up to the max length of dies as well as shouldered or headed workpieces. Workpieces and dies are kept parallel on the machine and are rotated between the dies, but has little to no axial movement
The thrufeed method is used for rolling threads that exceed the max face width of the dies and for continuous rolling of long threaded bars. Workpieces ride between the dies on a support blade and are capable of multiple start threads, within range of the machine.
Greater thread profile accuracy.
Superior wear resistance.
Higher quality surface finish.
Production far more efficient.
Increased resistance to corrosion.
